However, i think every year I fight just a bit more against the ensuing gray days of winter. It's like I'm trying to brake against the inevitable. I am so grateful for this discussion every day. It's uplifting to commiserate and hear everyone's great ideas for how to combat the woes of winter. I appreciate the help.Sujaanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00026431338800955330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-59028679423281099402012-01-17T15:53:38.955-05:002012-01-17T15:53:38.955-05:00I'm really enjoying all the thoughts shared ab...I'm really enjoying all the thoughts shared about SAD and ways to cope, different perspectives on the condition and what to do about it. I agree that sometimes a well-seasoned bowl of soup is a great way to dash away some of those blues that come along due to the lack of sunlight. I tend to reach for the richest and spiciest of scents to wear in January, and find that it can help a lot!johngreeninkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10050806085525382740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-86278843306181063432012-01-17T13:41:24.105-05:002012-01-17T13:41:24.105-05:00We've been blessed thus far with a fairly mild...We've been blessed thus far with a fairly mild winter this year in my southern-most part of NJ. No snow to speak of but flurries, and it's just started to get really cold. I've still been able to go out for my morning run most days, and the sun rising and beginning to melt off the frost never fails to cheer me, and I'm sure the exposure must be helping my vitamin D.Holly F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01478455787306316944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-14965610154449905012012-01-17T12:12:02.307-05:002012-01-17T12:12:02.307-05:00vitamin D.... i'm going to have that checked i...vitamin D.... i'm going to have that checked in a blood test hopefuly this week.
i think you can sorta do something -take it oraly- strange, since it's a vitamin that our own body creats when we expose our skin to the sun. eating fruit that are fresh from the sun (home grown, not store bought) als helps a lot.Hemla L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09709168428981250289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-8974879073697564712012-01-17T02:00:21.854-05:002012-01-17T02:00:21.854-05:00Tangerine sounds so pretty. I'm so impressed with the guild bringing attention to depression (even though this is SAD in particular); it's very hard for people to admit that anything is wrong (at least, for me it is). Engaging more of ones senses (like smell) can help keep one connected to the real world.nekosanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07106234345468473759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-90160620763643494802012-01-17T00:40:36.973-05:002012-01-17T00:40:36.973-05:00Thank you so much for participating in the Joy in ...Thank you so much for participating in the Joy in January project!

With such a indoor-oriented culture, its no wonder vitamin D is deficient for so many people. I know I started on vitamin d-3 after being tested and finding out my levels we very low. Then one winter I took a "winter school class" that taught us how to hike/climb/ski/snowshoe/camp/build shelters in the snow! To get outside without being afraid of it. It changed my life! Now I love to be outside in the winter, and I know how to layer clothing and exercise in the snow and ice in a safe way. I'm so grateful for the change in my experience of winter.

Your tangerine body butter sounds fabulous. I tend to go through a lot of body butters and body oils in the winter months.ahsumakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04427978699016426860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2040578667321106661.post-56572405801555601872012-01-16T22:56:24.448-05:002012-01-16T22:56:24.448-05:00This sounds fabulous, thank you for your generosit...This sounds fabulous, thank you for your generosity and for having this draw.moushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17800870304817024505noreply@blogger.com
